C’est avec une immense tristesse que nous vous annonçons le décès de monsieur Laval Labrie, survenu le 27 avril 2021. Ingénieur géologue de profession, il était le fils de feu Lucienne Caron et de feu Ludger Labrie, et le 11e d’une famille de 14 enfants.
Il laisse dans le deuil sa conjointe, Danielle Vaillancourt, et son fils adoré, Gabriel. Il laisse aussi dans une très grande peine ses nombreux frères et sœurs : Gervais, Jean-Yves, Raymond, Gérald, Claude (Sylvie), Gilles (Mireille), Gervaise, Bérengère (Jean), Charles-Omer, Véronique (Claude), Robert, Doris (Éric), Rachel (François), ainsi que de nombreux neveux, nièces, amis et collègues.
Laval était un grand chêne, une force de la nature, un grand gaillard. Mais il était avant tout un « grand doux », un homme affectueux et généreux qui était particulièrement attentif aux autres.
La résilience et le très grand courage dont il a fait preuve tout au long de sa maladie ont été exceptionnels. Tant que son grand corps malade le lui a permis, il s’est rendu tous les jours sur son banc de parc faire son salut à la vie. Bien que sans pouvoir les nommer, nous désirons remercier tous ceux qui ont eu l’occasion de l’y croiser et ont, souvent sans le savoir, contribué par leur présence à égayer son quotidien jusque dans ses derniers instants.
Pour sa famille, ses collègues et ses amis, son départ signifie aussi que nous perdons notre photographe attitré, celui qui savait toujours capter les beaux moments pour les immortaliser. Sa gentillesse, sa bonne humeur, sa grandeur et ses magnifiques prises de photos vont nous manquer et resteront toujours dans notre mémoire et notre cœur.
En raison de la situation sanitaire actuelle, nous pourrons nous réunir pour un dernier au revoir à une date ultérieure. Entre-temps, nous invitons ceux qui veulent bien prendre un instant pour se recueillir à allumer une chandelle en sa mémoire mardi prochain à 17 h 15.
