Leonard Alexander Wharwood Jr, age 59, passed away peacefully at the Jewish General Hospital surrounded by his loving daughters and their mother Ancil Alnora Gittens on Thursday August 23rd 2018.
Born in the heart of the Caribbean, Leonard (Junior) is the fourth of six children born to Ena Wharwood and Leonard Wharwood Sr. He attended Presentation Boy’s College in Grenada and went on to complete a certificate in public speaking at Concordia University. At the time of his passing, he was employed by McGill University where he has worked for over 25 years. Alongside his role as an IT specialist, he served as Honorary Counsel for Grenada in Quebec.
Leonard will be remembered as a dutiful, selfless, and caring member of the Grenadian community. Mr. Wharwood was known to many as Junior, Uncle Junior, Brother Wharwood, but his most prized title was Daddy. He was the proud father of Nzingha Chenoa Maya Wharwood, Nneka Zipporah Wharwood, and Jamie Victoria Ward. He is also survived by his loving mother Ena Wharwood and many siblings. Excelling in volunteering and supporting his community, Leonard’s outspoken and altruistic nature will undoubtedly be missed.
Family and close friends are invited to celebrate his life on Friday August 31st 2018 at the Centre Funeraire de Cote des Neiges, Dignité (4525 ch.de la Côte-des-Neiges Montreal, QC H3V1E7). The viewing will take place from 10 am to 1pm and the funeral service from 2 pm - 4 pm.
