“She’s leaving home, bye, bye….” – The Beatles 1967

Lori departed for her next journey just before the new year.

Although she is now exploring the universe, she has left a mark with the people in her life. She was for some a trailblazer, for others unconventional, for those who listened - a storyteller of a period of great change in our society. One aspect we can all agree is that she challenged existing norms and made us more aware of how we see the world.

She was a daughter, a mother and grandmother, a sister, a family member, and a friend. We will miss her and through memories, her imprint will live in our lives.

She fought a battle that no one wants. Cancer is devastating and has become a too common episode in people’s lives. Lori would have said that we need to take better care of our planet…and to stop smoking…as she did many years ago… even if it was the trigger to her illness. Please give to cancer research.

Lori, your mom, Antonietta and departed dad, Vito - your daughter , Carla and grandson, William – your brother, Paolo…miss you and remember you. As all the family, close and far. And dear friends, old and new.

“Let It Be” – The Beatles 1968

My sweet cuz,

It has taken me a while to muster enough courage to write the following so here it goes.

You have taken me from infancy through adolescence into early adulthood and to the present.
Through the years we have shared our love of music, passion for justice, amazement with science and had a few laughs along the way.

Our passion for travelling made us more educated, tolerant of mankind and shaped our views of the wonderful world we live in, even though we disagreed with much of it. Go figure. Your presence, counsel and love will be sorely missed. I love you deeply.

You were always a fighter, right to the very end. I draw strength from this. My Gianni mentions you often but I am not ready to discuss much about you as yet. I require more time to process your absence. Please be patient with me Lori, as you always were. The day will come when I will be able openly talk about your life with him.

I leave you with the warmest of memories, endless affection, the hope that you found peace and the end of your struggle. We shall reunite but not yet.

Love-Tom, Vilma and Gianni

In this moment of loss and sadness we would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to Lori’s daughter ,grandson. our Dear Commara Antonietta and Paolo . We share your grief and support you with our hearts and thoughts in this moment of great sorrow. Our families are close we were childhood friends and as a pre adolescent to adolescent Lori was bigger than life not shy to challenge conventional behaviour. Lori was a Pioneer in her own way for women equality and rights and unapologetically stood up for them. A free spirited soul . Not shy to experiment with life and push it to the limits. Lori inspired whom ever she came in contact with. LORI I will miss you. Rest In Peace .

My deepest condolences to Lori’s whole family...

The memories there are many, from our very first encounter we shared a bond that led us to experience great moments together ,from our late disco nights in Montreal, to our first stand by flight to the Acapulco sunshine, to discovering the samba in Rio, and let’s not forget numerous trips together to her beloved Italy.

We laughed, we danced and we cried, we had fun , we struggled and we loved. However, unfortunately we did lose touch for a time....Nonetheless, after our marriages, our children ,and grandchildren, we found each other again as if no time had passed..

I found her to be very brave through her illness, I truly admired her tremendous courage.
I am very grateful to have had Lori as my friend and will cherish forever all the memories we shared,
I salute her and bid her farewell with her last words to me:
“ Ciao bella ciao”

Jocelyne ❤️
