Finlayson, Madeleine “Maddy” (née Coussement) 1924 - 2014 C'est avec une profonde tristesse que nous vous annonçons le décès de Madeleine “Maddy” Coussement Finlayson, le 3 septembre 2014. Épouse de feu Jock K. Finlayson (et de feu Lantier H. Rolland en premières noces). Elle laisse dans le deuil ses enfants bien aimés Daniel Rolland (Missy Diehl) et Michel Rolland (Christine Duhamel), ses petits-enfants adorés Sébastien Rolland et Stéphanie Rolland (Christian McGuire), sa belle-fille Janet Finlayson (Keith Dumont) et ses enfants Kathryn et Stephen Finlayson ainsi que plusieurs neveux, nièces et amis. Elle laissera un grand vide au sein de la famille. Sa mémoire demeurera éternellement gravée dans nos coeurs. Maddy est née à Bruxelles, Belgique. Elle était belle, élégante et femme de coeur. Toute jeune, elle a été bénévole pour la Croix-Rouge à Londres pendant les années tumultueuses de la 2e grande guerre. C'est là où à la fin de la guerre, le jour de la victoire, elle a marié l'officier de marine Canadienne le lieutenant Lantier H. Rolland. Les années d'après-guerre l'ont amené à Ste-Adèle et à Mont-Rolland. Au cours des années 60, on la voit participer à des émissions de Radio-Canada tel que “Le sel de la semaine” et “Le point d'interrogation”. En 1976, elle refait sa vie avec Jock K. Finlayson, les années suivantes avec Jock sont heureuses. Ils voyagent fréquemment ensemble à travers le monde, ils habitent à Toronto et reviendront à Montréal par la suite. À la fin de 2003, Jock s'éteint subitement. Par la suite, le monde de Maddy devient de plus en plus centré sur ses enfants et leurs familles pour qui elle voue un amour inconditionnel. Elle s'éteint, à son tour, paisiblement ce 3 septembre, prédécédée de ses deux soeurs Jacky et Denise en Angleterre. La famille désire exprimer son appréciation et ses remerciements au personnel de Ambiance Île-des-Soeurs, en particulier les membres de l'équipe Signature du 2e étage pour leur professionnalisme, leur dévouement et surtout leur grande gentillesse. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother Madeleine 'Maddy' Coussement Finlayson on September 3, 2014. She is predeceased by her beloved late husband Jock K. Finlayson (and the late Lantier H. Rolland in a first marriage). She will be greatly missed by her loving children Daniel Rolland (Missy Diehl) and Michel Rolland (Christine Duhamel), her grandson Sébastien Rolland, her granddaughter Stéphanie Rolland (Christian McGuire), her step daughter Janet Finlayson (Keith Dumont) and step grandchildren Kathryn and Stephen Finlayson. Her memory will forever remain engraved in our hearts. Maddy was born in Brussels, Belgium in 1924. She was graceful, beautiful and elegant. As a teenager, she volunteered in The Red Cross in London during the devastating years of WW2. It was in London at the end of the war on VE-Day that she married LT. Lantier H. Rolland of the RCN. The years that followed the war took Maddy to Ste-Adele and Mont-Rolland, QC. During the 60's, Maddy made frequent appearances on Radio-Canada TV programs such as 'Le sel de la semaine' and 'Le point d'interrogation'. In 1976, she remarried with Jock K. Finlayson, the years that followed were happy years. Jock and Maddy travelled together throughout the world, they lived in Toronto and then returned to Montreal. At the end of 2003, Jock passed away suddenly. As time went on, Maddy's world became increasingly centered around her children and grandchildren for whom she had an unconditional love. At almost 90, she passed away peacefully, predeceased by her two sisters in England, Jacky and Denise. The family wishes to express its gratitude and appreciation to the staff of Ambiance le-des-Soeurs, in particular to the 2nd floor Signature team for its professionalism, dedication and kindness.
