I am so sorry to hear of Cheryl's passing. She was my beacon of hope when I very much needed one. Cheryl took a frightened Iraqi on an expired visa and turned him into a Canadian. I will never forget how much I owe her, and I'm sure many others feel the same way.

Dear Matt & Johnny: A second Christmas since your mom and my dear friend left us. I was in Montreal in the spring & I missed her so much, the city felt a little emptier to me without her to visit. Sadness has touched our lives this Christmas as Tina's husband was killed in a tragic motor accident late November, losing yet another loved one. I hope both of you will make some treasured moments this season so that your children & new families will have the same rich lives that your mom left you. Matt & John:
I knew your Mum as a law student at McGill.  I will always remember her sardonic sense of humor, and her impatience with pretentious professors. I will also always remember her incredible kindness in organizing a meeting with the parents of our late classmate, Pat Allen, so that some of Pat's friends could share their memories of Pat's life in Montreal, and in doing so provide  support to the grieving parents of a murdered child.  Even if that had been your Mum's only good deed, and it surely wasn't, she would be assured place in heaven.
Please know that many people will be thinking of you in the days ahead!

Very sorry to hear your loss, Johnny and Matthew.  It's very hard to imagine the world without her funny, sardonic and courageous opinions circulating through the ether.  Seems like only yesterday she regaled me (on Sherbrooke St.!) with her latest exploits - liberally seasoned with tales of the family she so adored.  She was a unique soul.  Our warmest thoughts.

Words can't express the shock and sorrow I felt upon hearing that your dear mom has passed. I am living in Calgary and was unable to attend the service, my apologies. I spoke with Cheryl just a few weeks ago and am so stunned to think I will never share another laugh with her. Who else would I ever share a marathon phone call that lasted 8 hours, that was our record..though there were many others. When we chatted in the spring, we shared some wonderful stories that had us both laughing so hard, I could scarcely breathe. She was a friend like no other and the world is a smaller place without her. I can't imagine visiting Montreal and not having a few days visit with her, and an all night gab fest..nor a sampling of her many yummy meals that were always served with a dash of humour. I only knew Cheryl  through my walks in the park and through standing chatting whilst Beau scoured the lawn for treats. She was a vital woman with a sense of humour and a wonderful gold Saturn with a side door for Beau. I will miss our encounters.

Helene and I would like to express our sympathy on the sudden death of Cheryl. We met Cheryl just after she moved to Montreal and by-chance I was there the day your father met Cheryl. We enjoyed the time we spent with her and your father in the early days but we lost contact after we moved to the country. We finally met Cheryl again when your Grandmother died a few years ago and we talked about getting together but it never materialized and we will always be sorry for this. She was a fine women and we mourn your loss.

We are currently in Florida and will not be able to attend the service in Montreal on Sunday but we will be thinking of you.

Well mom, I just bought tons of peanut butter from Costco and coffee. I said to myself, if mom come to my home, and there is no peanut butter stacked like lettuce in a sandwich , my life will not be pleasant for awhile. I remember the morning of January 2014, when you called me and said: "Get your butt in the kitchen and make me some soup, I am at the Jewish General and The food sucks" (lol).
I have so many precious moments to share, but words cannot express how I feel. I still haven't return your books, I found my library in your home, and you kept pushing me to take a read every time I came to help you around the house. 
I will miss your lovely Dog shaking my hand before I enter your home.
Two great things above all I thank you for helping me to get my status in Canada, and for giving me the gift of your Immigration Knowledge to help you during the last days of your beautiful witty life in Paradise. You high five me every time I took matters in my hands and filled out an application, or wrote a letter for a client and it was accepted. 
I will miss you, but I am content because now you actually will meet my mom and say hi for me, and give her your best tongue like you promised, for raising a brat like Wendy who you had to mole to a better person.
I continue to be forever thankful to you for getting me a job. A job with people who I love daily, remarkable like yourself. 
To be absent from the body is to be present with the lord, and I know you are in a better place smiling at me and probably in need of a peanut butter sandwich (lol)

Cathy & I are in total shock and dissbelief at this sad news. We will treasure our many chats as we sat pool side together over the years. I particularly enjoyed our reminiscing of old days back home across the pond. I remember fondly our many chit chats at the 'old' pool - Johnny was keeping us entertained as he made some amazing moves off that diving board - all the while we were discussing everyone and everything! Cheryl was so full of stories and a great teller of those stories. Just a few short weeks ago, I went to the pool for a quick swim and my quick stop turned into an afternoon all because Cheryl was there so we sat and chatted away the afternoon. To Matthew and Johnny - please accept our heartfelt condolences - we will always remember your Mum and the pool deck just will not be the same again.

She came to visit me on the rez after our 25th reunion.  Both of us taking calls from clients during our lunch.  Her clients will miss her and I am sad that we cannot lunch again.  My sympathies to her boys and grandchildren.

I am shocked and deeply saddened by news of the untimely passing of Cheryl. Though it has been some time since I stood on the old pool deck in Westmount having one of our wonderful discussions and solving the ills of the worldit seems like only yesterday. Cheryl always put a smile on my face and a good feeling in my heart. She was most assuredly a one in a million woman of the finest kind. Missed but always remembered.
