Passed away on June 2nd, 2014 at the age of 93. Peggy was predeceased by husband Frank, who passed away just 3 short months ago - they had been married almost 67 years. People say we each have one great love in life - that was certainly the case for Peggy and Frank, she was lost without him and while she was dealing with her own medical issues these past few months, her family believes that in the end, she died from a broken heart. They are now together - forever.
Born on May 8th, 1921 in Southampton, England, Peggy moved to Canada when she was just two years old. She grew up in Verdun and met Frank at Hampson and Sons Insurance Company just before he enlisted in the Army. Throughout his service overseas they corresponded regularly and these letters are a testament to their enduring love.
Peggy and Frank were married in 1947 settling in Outremont, and later in NDG. She was an avid bridge player, loved to ski and spend summers on the beach in Maine. Peggy volunteered for a number of different organizations.
Peggy is survived by daughters Anne (Jeffery Murphy), of Gravenhurst, Ontario, and Debbie (Ross Horrocks), of Brossard, three grandchildren - Brett (Natalie), Garrett, and Jillian, and by brother George Ford of Paris, Ontario.
A joint funeral for both Peggy and Frank will be held at the National Field of Honour in Pointe-Claire on Saturday, June 7 at noon. A celebration of their lives will be held from 2-4 pm at the N.D.G. branch of the Royal Canadian Legion (5455, boul de Maisonneuve O, Montréal). In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice in Peggy's name.
