Marjorie (Johnston) Howse

Passed away peacefully on February 3 2013, surrounded by her family.Predeceased by her beloved husband of 61 years, Basil AlexanderHowse.Loving mother to Joy, Eve and Roy and their respective spouses,David Adley, RubinGoldbaum, and Kathy (Munro) Howse.Proud grandmother to Shelley, Lisa, Allyson, Jessica, Stephanie, Suzanne, Sarah, Daniel, Thomas and Peter.

Marjorie was a loving, nurturing mother and devoted wife, who also had a lifelong love affair with music. In her early years she performed as an accomplished pianist and then later taught music in private and public settings. No family gathering was complete without Marge performing a challenging piece from her extensive repertoire or a leading a lively sing-along with all joining in.

Marjorie also trained as a registered nurse at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal and worked as an RN most notably for many years in the ER at St. Michael’s Hospital in Buckingham, Quebec. Her caring nature was ideally suited for this role.

Being physically active was important to Marjorie. From golfing to skiing to curling, she loved to get out and do things and importantly involved the family as well.

In her later years she was cared for by an exceptional group of companions and caregivers. The family wishes to thank Jackie Charles and Barbara (Chin) Allen, who were with her to the end. Many thanks also to Petula Ross, AJ Johnson, Betty Bakka and Joanna Duncan for their loving care. The family is also grateful to the 3C Nursing staff and the Recreation team at the Jewish Eldercare Centre.

Marjorie was a fun loving, spirited yet a very empathetic woman who loved her family, enjoyed life and genuinely wanted the best for all. We will miss her deeply.

Visitation to be held Wednesday, February 6th from 6 to 8 pm. Service will take place on Thursday, February 7th at 11 am, both at Collins Clarke McGillivray White, 5610 Sherbrooke Street West.
