Mary Bawolak Lacoursière

1939 - 2017

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Mary LaCoursière at the age of 77 years surrounded by her loving family at the Montreal Jewish General Hospital.

Born on August 15, 1939, Mary was the daughter of the late Maria Matiusz and the late Michael Bawolak of Poland.

First and foremost Mary was the loving and devoted mother to her daughter RoseMarie-Lynn and to her son Regent Jr. (Kendra Kelly). Mary was the proudest of all grandmothers to her two grand-daughters Jasmine-Noëlle and Grace-Anjolie and her two grandsons Quinn-Everest and Spencer-McKinley. She is survived by her sisters Irene, Stacie, Olga and many nieces and nephews and their families. Predeceased by her sisters Margaret and Stella, her brothers Edward, Michael and Paul.

Married for 58 years to the love of her life Regent (Johnny) LaCoursière, Regent was known around the world for having won many World long distance swimming championships. In 1970 Mary and Regent founded the École de Natation Régent LaCoursière Inc. where they worked together for 48 years. Mary was completely dedicated in her work as co-owner of the private swim school and she will be dearly missed by the little children who fondly called her “Mammy”

C’est avec une immense tristesse que nous vous annonçons le décès de Mary LaCoursière à l’âgé de 77ans, survenu le 5 février 2017, entourée de l'amour de sa famille, à l’hôpital général Juif de Montréal.

Née le 15 août 1939, Mary était la fille de feu Maria Matiuez et de feu Michael Bawolak de Pologne.

Avant tout, elle était l’amour et la mère dévouée de sa fille RoseMarie-Lynn et son fils Régent Jr. (Kendra Kelly). Mary était une grand-mère très fière de ses petites-filles Jasmine-Noelle et Grace-Anjolie ainsi que ses petits-fils Quinn-Everest et Spencer-McKinley. Elle laisse dans le deuil ses sœurs Irene, Stacie, Olga et leurs familles. Prédécédé par ses sœurs Margaret, Stella et ses frères Edward, Michael et Paul.

Elle a été mariés durant 58 années à l’amour de sa vie, Régent (John) LaCoursière. Régent était connue à travers le monde pour avoir gagné plusieurs championnats mondiales de nage de longue distances. En 1970 Mary et Régent fondent l’École de Natation Régent LaCoursière Inc. ou ils ont travaillé ensemble durant 48 ans. Elle était complètement dédiée à son travail comme copropriétaire de leur école de natation et elle manquera grandement aux petits enfants qui l’appelaient ‘Mamie’
