of Montreal, Quebec
left us on Saturday, February 28, 2015 for her final journey. Mary left in peace, but after a difficult illness that she handled in her stoic and noble manner, surrounded by her immediate family and many friends. Mary leaves behind her son, Glenn Jeffrey Mullan, and her 3 beautiful and oh so precious granddaughters, Siobhan Kaylea, Taelan Sinead and Logan Shanya, Glenn's wife Jackie Koh, his stepdaughter Sierra Miller, the Koh family (mother-in-law Elizabeth, sister-in-law Vicki, brother-in-law Shane), her niece Sharon (and husband Graham Locke , and their two children Hamish and Samantha, along with many more relatives in Scotland), her nephew John Murphy (and Judy, and their children Jonathan and and Jennifer), her nieces Debbie (and husband Ron Reddick and children Michael and Nathan), Sandra Greene (and son Brian), Mary (and her husband Michael Cardone, and their children Maegan and Matt) nephew Tim Doty (and his children Todd, Katherine, Jessica), niece Janice, and nephews Murray and Lyle Jeakins. Mary Walker Kerr, will now join her two sisters, Grace Doty (Gouverneur, New York) and Catherine "Kay" Murphy (Montreal), as well as her brother James "Jim" (Vancouver) and her parents, Kate and George Kerr, who had first blazed the trail, having come over from Scotland to Montreal to establish themselves in a (then) new world, devoid of most comforts. This lack of comforts characterised much of Mary's life, and humble is an understatement to any who knew her. Flash and material objects were not attributes that she sought, embraced, nor respected. She was modest, and led by example every day of her 82-years. Mary lived and worked in Montreal, a city she loved and admired, for all of its many flaws, for most of her life. In fact, she missed those flaws when away for extended periods. She also lived in Toronto for nearly 20-years during her work career at the Bank of Montreal, and in Hudson, Quebec after marrying Gerald Omar "Jeff", and raising her young family there. She later returned to Montreal following her retirement to be closer to her son and granddaughters. Always passionate in all of her endeavours, work, social and family, Mary's last great passion was her 12 year devotion as a volunteer at the McGill University Health Centre (Montreal General Hospital). It is ironic that the place that occupied her heart and soul, is also where she left us last Saturday. She so loved that environment, and devoting herself to service of others. This too was only one more of her many characteristics. Small things made her so happy, she needed only to know her place and effort made a difference. Mary was a very loyal Habs fan, and many things Montreal, and was at one-time both an avid and accomplished curler (Caledonia Curling Club). Mary loved to entertain and hosted many events, for family and friends over the years. We have all lost our safe harbour, and we constantly sought refuge near her, as she provided the guidance, love and oh, so many splendid meals. All of us will now begin to miss Mary and her warm smiles, radiant eyes, and devotion to family. Mary was a good Catholic. Visitation will take place on Friday, March 13, 2015 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Collins Clarke MacGillivray White Funeral Home (5610 Sherbrooke St. W, Montreal QC)and also on Saturday, March 14, 2015 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Funeral Service to follow at the Funeral Home Chapel at 9:30 a.m.
