Died peacefully in Montreal after a short illness. Predeceased by his parents Harold and Ruth Acker, he is sadly missed by his wife Jeannie, his children Ruthie, Sarah and James, his brothers Peter, Paul and John, and many other relatives and friends in Ontario, Newfoundland and around the world. Michael will be remembered for his love of people and his generous acts of service. Thanks to the many people who cared for Michael in his last weeks, including the staff at White Bay Central Health Centre in Roddickton and Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony, the ambulance crews, the neurosurgery and oncology teams at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John's, and the neurosurgery and ICU teams at the Montreal Neurological Hospital in Montreal.
