Michael left us peacefully on January 12, 2024 in his 65th year, with Sandra in the hospital room and Heather on the phone with both of them. We imagine Michael now surrounded by all his animal friends including Dante, Sonora Bay and Brownie. Michael identified as Metis, the great-great-great grandson of Sarah Timentwa, of the Salish Sea Tribe, who married Alexander Ross and moved to live in the Red River Settlement in Manitoba. Ahead of his time in many ways, Michael was a dedicated vegetarian, voracious reader, early internet adopter, garage sale aficionado, anti-nuclear activist, dedicated recycler of everything and loved Christmas, especially the seasonal animated films. He was a committed Fringe Festival volunteer for many years and could often be found baking dozens of cookies before his shift. We will miss him, especially his smile and great sense of humour.
