passing of Paul Trapp on January 10, 2016.
Predeceased by his loving wife of 72 years,
Julia Trapp (ne´e Siket). He is survived by
his son Paul George (Linda predeceased),
his daughter Debra Porszt (Alan), his
grandchildren Kimberley (Alex), Candace
(Steven), Paul Gordon (Dary), Robert
(Aiphong), Alex Porszt (Jenny), Chris Porszt,
and seven great-grandchildren. He is also
survived by his three sisters-in-law Barb
Rumson (Gordon), Liz Siket (George
predeceased) and Eva Kovacs (John
predeceased). From an early age, Paul Trapp
showed the initiative and entrepreneurial
spirit that would distinguish him throughout
his diverse career. He was an accomplished
salesman (White Mirror and Glass), and
equally a skilled craftsman – creating
beautiful wood furniture at the company he
founded and managed (WoodArt Furniture).
In time, he turned his business skills to
investing and managing real estate. Always
interested in the preservation of historic
buildings, Paul was given an award by the city
of Montreal for some of the sensitive and
authentic renovations he carried out on his
properties. While the built environment was
his livelihood, the natural environment was
his joy. Paul was an avid hunter and
fisherman and was most at home surrounded
by the lakes and woodlands of the
Laurentians. Food was also a big part of
Paul’s life, in particular the preservation of his
Hungarian heritage through beautifully
crafted meals – preferably slow cooked on an
open fire at his beloved cottage. But his true
love and passion was for his family. He was
happiest being surrounded by his children,
his grandchildren and his many great-
grandchildren. His family and many friends
will miss him deeply. A Celebration of his Life
will take place on Saturday, February 6, 2016
from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., at the Dignité Funeral
Home, 4525, Ch. De La Cote-des-Neiges,
Montreal. In lieu of flowers please donate to
the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation,
or a charity of your choice.
