It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Ronald F Swann. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by family. He leaves behind Carmelita (nee Mercado), his wife of forty-four years, his son Jason and wife Cherrie (nee Cruz), his daughter Cynthia, his grandsons Balen and Ronin, and his brother Brian and wife Catherine (nee Molony).
Born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Northumberland, England, to Mary Lindsay and George Swann, he lived through the Second World War, even being evacuated for safety, and later worked as a teenager at Walker Naval Yard. His Uncle Frank Lindsay encouraged him to join him in Canada and Dad immigrated on the RMS Aquitania. The rest of his family joined him in the fall of 1950. Dad worked proudly for Air Canada for forty years. He loved books, history, classical music, sailing and traveling, but most of all, he loved his family and his dogs. He was always there for us, even picking us up from school, every day, even after a hard day's work. And he was always a gentleman. It was our great luck and privilege that he was our father. Dad became a Canadian, but remained a proud Geordie, through and through!
Our family would especially like to thank the incredibly caring and hard working staff and volunteers at Bethell Hospice in Inglewood, Ontario. Such kindness will always be remembered!
Our father is buried with his beloved mother, Mary, at Mount Royal Cemetery.
