He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Luisa Madia Lopez, who he has known most of his life as they were childhood friends.
His cherished children, Caterina (Angelo), Vittoria, Claudia (Dario). His devoted grandchildren who he was most proud of, Maria-Luisa (Alexander), Carlo Dante Salvatore, Nina Mara (Lawrence), Sabrina (Dave), David and Marco. His adored great-grandson, Adam.
He will be deeply missed by his brothers, Mario (Rosina), Pietro (Caterina), his sister-in-law Paola and many nephews and nieces as well as other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Vincenzo Lopez and Caterina Laratta, his sisters, Rosina (Peppino), Teresa (Domenico) and his brother Francesco.
Salvatore was a strong, fearless, and quiet man who lived a very healthy lifestyle. He spent his days playing bocce, organizing bocce tournaments, biking, swimming, fishing, playing cards with friends and family. He believed the key to a good life was keeping active, eating well and being surrounded by loving family and friends.
Salvatore and his wife Luisa spent many winters in Florida. When cycling down the broad walk with him, every few meters we heard “Hi Sal!” His American friends called him Sal and he had many of them.
His presence made everybody feel safe, loved and calm. He always had encouraging words for his family and always found a way to make us feel special. He will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to have known him. Rest in peace,
Salvatore Lopez.
