Sophie Daubner died peacefully in her home on June 5, 2015, surrounded by her family and friends. She is mourned by her beloved husband of seventy-three years, Theodor, and by her devoted children, Ernestine and Pierre Calando, Hilda and Henry Gervais, as well as by her dearly loved grandson Fabrice Calando and Jenifer Chappell who gave her an adored great-grandson, Samuel, bringing her so much joy.
She will also be remembered by her nephews and nieces Mary and Michael Binder (Burlington), John and Elizabeth Schlachta (Ottawa), Henry and Carol Schlachta (Montreal), and Wilhelm and Gerhard Schlachta from Slovakia, as well as many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her nephew, Frank Schlachta, who passed away two months earlier.
A funeral service will be held at St. Ignatius Church, 4455 West Broadway, Montreal, NDG, on Saturday, June 13th from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm., for visitation, after which there will be a Mass in her honor.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to organizations such as Doctors Without Borders or other war- and disaster-relief organizations.
