Barbara Ora Carano

Barbara Carano of Montrose, NY passed away on Monday, December 9, 2019. She was 86 years old.
Barbara was born on January 12, 1933 in Newburyport, MA to the late Robert and Nellie (Brown) Ronan. Barbara graduated from N. Tarrytown High School in 1951. After graduation she worked for NY Telephone. She married her beloved husband Crocifisso Ramon Carano on May 24, 1952 at Assumption Church in Peekskill, NY. Barbara was a longtime member of the Red Hat Society where she enjoyed their outings and made many friends. She was also a member of the Cortlandt Engine Ladies' Auxilliary, Cortlandt Seniors in Verplanck and in past times enjoyed square dancing with Tarry Squares. Barbara loveded spending time with family at the shore in North Wildwood, NJ and at the “cabin” in the Adirondack Mountains.
She was a beautiful person who loved the Lord. Barbara put her faith in Jesus and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many. She is survived by her beloved husband, Crocifisso Ramon Carano; devoted children, Michael Carano and his wife Lynn, Linda Westlake and her husband Warren, Susan Mitchell and Gary Carano; caring sisters and brother, Bonnie Despres, Elizabeth Schwind, Roberta Calmbacher, Christopher Ronan, her cherished grandchildren, Elizabeth, Lindsey, Adam, Michelle and Emily and step-granddaughter Altaira Mitchell. She is also survived by her adoring great grandchildren, Michael, Joseph, Timothy, Cameron, Nikki, Emma and Andy.
Barbara was predeceased by her loving son David Carano, grandson, Josh Westlake, brothers and sister, Robert Ronan, Carol Gagliardi, John Ronan and son-in-law, Bruce Mitchell.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 13, 2019 from 5 to 8pm at the EDWARD F. CARTER FUNERAL HOME, 170 Kings Ferry Rd., Montrose, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 14th at St. Christopher’s Church in Buchanan, NY. Burial will be Private.
