Barbara Miller

Barbara Ann Miller (Klinke), formerly of Montrose NY, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2025 at the age of 88 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born in Peekskill, New York on October 3, 1936 to Robert and Grace Klinke (Moretti).

Barbara graduated from Peekskill High School in 1954 as a salutatorian. She went on to graduate from Briarcliff Junior College with a major in Cartography. After graduation she went to work for J. Wilbur Irish Engineering & Surveying.

In 1956, she married her childhood sweetheart John (Jack) Miller and lived in Montrose, NY for over 60 years, before moving to The Club at Briarcliff Manor in 2021.

Barbara worked for the Town of Cortlandt for many years, first in the engineering department and later in the building department as a building inspector. After her retirement from Cortlandt, she then worked part-time for the Village of Buchanan as a building inspector.

Barbara loved spending time with family and friends and enjoyed hosting large gatherings for every holiday. She enjoyed volunteering for everything from the Cortlandt Beautification Committee to the Cortlandt Museum. She even won an American Legion and Westchester County War Council award in 1945 when she was 9 years old for collecting the most paper for the County Paper Salvage Campaign during WWII. She was a born organizer and was instrumental in organizing her class and family reunions over many years. Barbara had a great love of all animals and with her husband Jack had 7 dogs and 17 cats over the years. Barbara also loved gardening and traveling, especially to Sanibel Island, Florida where she vacationed for over 30 years and brought back the numerous shells that decorated every room in her house. She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother and will be missed by all.

Barbara was predeceased by her beloved husband Jack (John) in 2024 and her parents, Robert and Grace Klinke.

She is survived by her daughter Kimberly Miller of Montrose, son-in-law, Patrick Bronner and grandsons Matthew and Nicholas.

Visitation is scheduled for Monday, June 16th from 3pm-8pm at Edward F Carter Funeral Home, 170 Kings Ferry Road Montrose, NY 10548. A funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 17th at the Church of the Assumption, 131 Union Avenue, Peekskill, NY 10566 on Tuesday at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery, 1055 Oregon Road, Cortlandt Manor, NY 10567.
