James M. DeSocio passed away at the age of 84 on November 27, 2019. He was born on April 27, 1935 to James and Genevieve (Fischetti) DeSocio in Brooklyn, NY. He was the younger of two sons.

James had many fond memories of growing up in Brooklyn with his extended family. He frequently spent summers in Buchanan, NY as a child, with his maternal grandparents, engendering a love in him for a more rural environment. This eventually lead him to settle there and establish a life conducive to building a family and a business.

James and his business partner John Schratz successfully operated Peekskill Tool and Die Company for 35 years. He was an avid gardener, craftsman, and outdoorsman, always sharing with his neighbors. He was adept at identifying and enjoying local wildlife and was devoted to cultivating his property to be a friendly environment for neighborhood birds. He was a longtime Yankees and N.Y. Giants fan and an enthusiastic supporter of his four grandsons who all play football. James and Angeline were longtime parishioners of St. Christopher’s Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Genevieve, and his brother Jerome. James will be lovingly remembered by his wife Angeline of 57 years, whom he married on October 6 of 1962. James will be fondly remembered by their children: MaryLynn DeSocio Miller and husband Bryan Miller; Michael DeSocio and wife Kathleen DeSocio; Jennifer DeSocio Padilla; and grandchildren Anthony Miller, James DeSocio, Patricia DeSocio, John DeSocio, and Joseph DeSocio.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2019 from 4-8pm at the EDWARD F. CARTER FUNERAL HOME, 170 Kings Ferry Rd., Montrose, NY.
