John A. Halvey passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the age of 79. John was born to John and Rose Halvey on February 4, 1938 in Manhattan, NY. He taught English at John F. Kennedy High School in the Bronx. John was the beloved husband of Margaret (nee Reilly), devoted and proud father to John, and the loving grandfather to Colin, Grace and Meghan. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was an avid reader and had wisdom beyond his years. He will be deeply missed by all.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 20, 2017 from 3-6PM at Edward F. Carter Funeral Home, 170 Kings Ferry Rd., Montrose, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 21st, St. Augustine Church, Ossining, NY at 10AM with burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorn, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Paws Crossed Animal Rescue in Elmsford, NY.
