Joseph Ralph Giacomantonio, a resident of Montrose, NY, passed away on May 30, 2025, at the age of 90. He was born on September 7, 1934, in Union City, NJ, to the late John and Grace (DeBenedictis) Giacomantonio. Joseph served proudly in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1957. Before retirement, he was the owner and operator of Chicken Joe’s in Peekskill, NY.
Joseph Ralph Giacomantonio was a man who loved his family deeply and cherished his Italian culture. His storytelling about his time serving as a proud member of the Navy Seabees was a highlight for everyone who knew him, often sharing tales of his adventures while stationed abroad. Known affectionately as "Chicken Joe," he owned and operated the beloved Chicken Joe’s Golden Fried Chicken & Ribs, famous for its “Jocko Taters,” a local favorite cherished by many. Joseph had a contagious laugh and possessed an incredible ability to weave stories that felt almost cinematic. He was the quintessential jokester, always ready to lighten the mood and bring joy to any gathering. A true lover of celebration, he relished Sunday dinners at home or at his sisters & mothers which were day long dinners. His red sauce was something he adored any day of the week - believing in tradition over change when it came to his pasta. His devotion to his family knew no bounds; he would do anything for them! Each of his grandchildren shared a unique relationship with him, as he often played a fatherly role in their lives. Known for his outspoken nature and lack of filter, Joseph's heart belonged to his wife, Noel, who meant everything to him and whom he loved beyond words.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Noel Giacomantonio; daughters Gina Giacomantonio, Julie (Al) DeBenedictis, and Lindsay Giacomantonio; son Joseph (Deborah) Giacomantonio; and grandchildren Rebekah (Jake) Mahon, Elizabeth (Nathan) Legsdin, Christopher DeBenedictis, Elianna DeBenedictis, and Joseph Brophy.
