

Lillian A. Stein passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 12th surrounded by her loving family. Lillian was born July 8th, 1933 in the Bronx to Julia (Borbas) and Alexander Anderson. On September 11th, 1954 she married Francis B. Stein, the love of her life. Lillian was a member of the Peekskill Garden Club, the Beautification Committee of Buchanan, the Buchanan Seniors and the Stew Crew at St. Christopher’s Church.
Lillian worked at Maryknoll as an administrative assistant, retiring in 1994. She enjoyed spending time with her family vacationing at the Jersey shore and her frequent trips to Arizona. Lillian’s passions included gardening and taking care of her outdoor birds.
Lillian is the mother to daughters Elise Sokol (Barry) of Hacketstown NJ, LuAnne Glashoff (Raymond), and Lori Pyrch (Paul) of Buchanan and son Lawrence F. Stein of Tempe, Arizona. She adored her eight loving grandchildren Garrett, Julie, Chelsea and Hunter Glashoff; Kaylie, Kristen, and Kevin Pyrch; and Carly Sokol. She is also survived by brothers George Anderson of Hancock, NY and Robert Anderson (Leslie) of Croton, NY along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Francis in 2006 and brother Alexander Anderson (Zena).
Lillian was a special lady who was admired by everyone in the community. The family was blessed to have cared for her over the past few years. We had the chance to make wonderful memories and truly see just how remarkable a woman she was. She will be greatly missed.
There will be a mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, January 16th at 10AM at Assumption Church in Peekskill, NY. Friends may call on Friday, January 15th from 3 to 7PM at EDWARD F. CARTER FUNERAL HOME, 170 Kings Ferry Rd., Montrose, NY. Interment will be at Assumption Cemetery.
