On July 6, 1954, when Paul was only 13 years old, his father James Aristotle Anthony (a civil engineer) died of lung cancer. Paul wished he had gotten the opportunity to know him better. Paul’s Uncle Christopher Anthony (loving known as “Cree”), & his Aunt Angie played major roles in helping to raise Paul after his father’s passing, they remained very close and helpful to him & his family throughout their lives. In 1955, Paul went to Brooklyn Tech for two years. He and his mother moved to Houston, Texas in 1957, where he completed school at Lamar H.S. Paul and Helen were delighted grandparents of two handsome and healthy grandsons - Gregory Paul, Jr., and Nicholas Lewis. Paul was so happy that no words could express his feelings and joy. Every day, he spoke lovingly of his beloved grandsons and could not wait to see them again. For three years, Paul taught Command General Staff College at the Military Academy at West Point and Mail friendships that had lasted throughout the years, while in the Army reserves. In 2015, his first great-grandchild Stephannie (who is currently 9 years old) was born to his grandson Nicky and their mother Faith. Following that they welcomed Gionni in 2020 (who is 4 years old). In 2016, Helen, Paul’s beloved wife of 52 years passed away. Paul always wanted a “livewire” and found that in fun loving, artistic Helen with whom he built a life of shared love. As an avid shooter and life member of National Rifle Association, he enjoyed competitive matches, target, skeet, and trap shooting throughout his life. Paul and her father made sure Helen was and remained proficient in firing pistols, rifles, and shotguns. Their son also was trained in handling all the above weapons. In Paul’s later years, he enjoyed listening to music, especially folk music (Peter, Paul and Mary) as well as songs from the 1950’s and 60’s and Broadway Musicals – he went to go see “Mamma Mia!” four times. Paul was also an avid bike rider who could often be seen riding around the neighborhood. He and his personal assistant Leslie (who also helped care for and loved Helen) became his aide and good friend throughout his remaining years, which they spent going on trips to places like West Point and going out to eat, which Paul really loved.
Paul was happy, patient, and loving man who reached out to help anyone in need. When he saw the unfortunate, especially children, he took immediate action, such as by sponsoring a little girl from Ecuador. The dedication to others poured over, not only in his personal life with his family and friends but also in his two companies, customers, and suppliers. Paul was supportive and positive in his advice, actions, and love to all of us, his family, friends, and business contacts, many of whom became dear friends. Honesty, honor, love, and reaching out to help others were influenced by his deep, abiding faith in GOD and HIS strong spiritual guidance. Paul is free of all restraints that tied him to us. He will continue to love, guide, and assist us all in his gentle and loving ways, as a devoted husband, father, and friend.
