Roch Ciandella

Father Roch Ciandella, O.F.M., of Wappingers Falls, New York passed away on May 11, 2017 at the age of 74. Fr. Roch, son of the late Susan (Garabo) and James Ciandella, was born on March 12, 1943 in Jersey City, New Jersey.

Fr. Roch was received into the Franciscan Order on August 15, 1967 and was ordained a priest on May 13, 1972. He would have celebrated his 45th anniversary of priesthood this May 13th. Over the forty-five years of his priestly ministry, Fr. Roch ministered as a high school instructor and chaplain, worked in parish and hospital ministry and spent nearly 24 years doing retreat ministry at Mount Alvernia Retreat Center in Wappingers Falls, New York.

Fr. Roch is survived by his brother’s Gerard and James Ciandella, two sister’s Geraldine and Judith, and was predeceased by his sister Barbara.

There will be no public viewing. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 15, 2017 at 11AM at the Mount Alvernia Friary Chapel,158 Delavergne Ave, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590 with mausoleum entombment to follow also at Mt. Alvernia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the 'Mount Alvernia Retreat Center' in support of the retreat ministry that Fr. Roch so loved.
