Susie Ruyack of Montrose, NY, passed away suddenly on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at the age of 90. Susie was born to Ralph and Margaret (Natale) Fiore on July 28, 1928 in Naples, Italy. She was married to her loving husband Joseph M. Ruyack for 51 years until his passing in June 2000. Susie’s most rewarding endeavors were: working at the Keon Center, Peekskill, NY, being awarded their Certificate of Appreciation in 2002 and volunteering at the VA Hudson Valley in Montrose, NY. She won volunteer of the year in 2010, amassing 5,453 hours and 20 years of service as of 2014. She was an Auxiliary member of American Legion Post 1038 in Verplanck, NY and participated in the Cortlandt, Nor-Cort, and Verplanck Senior Citizens Clubs. She is survived by her daughter, Michele (William) Trumbull, son, George (Sheila) Ruyack; 3 grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and loving friends. She was predeceased by her brother, Victor Fiore and sisters Matilda Powell and Mary Grippo. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 from 3-5 and 7-9pm at the EDWARD F. CARTER FUNERAL HOME, 170 Kings Ferry Rd., Montrose, NY. Graveside Services will be held at 11:30am on Thursday, September 27th at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Verplanck, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Susie’s name can be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at www.lls.org .
