We will miss Aunt Dorothy.  She was always so kind and welcoming.  Even though we lived so far away, she always remembered our family and sent her wonderful slippers she made just for us.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of our good friend Dorothy, The world will seem a little emptier without her!
I met Dorothy in Febuary 1968 when we bought a house next door to her. She was my neighbor for 25 years until she moved to Moreno Valley, We didnt see each other as much then but we talked on the phone, alot Some of my favorite memories are the afternoons she and I and another neighbor gathered at my house and had coffee, alot of laughs and did arts and crafts together. We had so much fun! At Christmas time we each baked and we shared the treats and recipes too. She sewed Christmas stockings for my kids and some of my grandkids too, there are too many memories to share.
I  will always miss my good friend and no one can ever replace her.
She was my best friend, confidante, partner in crime and one of the best person I’ve ever had the honor to know

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dorothy Olivia Holland. Dorothy passed away at home Wednesday August 6, 2025. She was 96 years old. She was born November 10, 1928, in St Cloud, Minnesota, daughter to the late Bernard and Eleanor Linn.  Married 46 years, she was preceded in death by her husband, Junius B. Holland (“Jay” 1998); two of her sons, Lee T. Holland (2021) and Gary L. Holland (2012) and her 5 siblings.   

Dorothy is survived by her son Wade A. Holland and his wife Terry; 2 daughters Nancy A. Michna and Holly S. Ammer and her husband Bill; daughter-in-law Berta Holland (Lee); 8 Grandchildren: Nicole, Ryan, Marissa, Seth, Joshua, Katherine, Jeremy and Jeremiah; and 5 Great Grandchildren: Ayden, Nora, Charlotte, Adelaide and Milo.  She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her. 

Dorothy was a Registered Nurse and spent 50 years in her profession. She enjoyed spending time with her family and working in her garden. Her evenings were spent crocheting blankets or knitting slippers. Some went to family, others were donated to veterans and newborns.  Her slippers were loved by everyone.  She was a woman of profound faith and was very involved in her church, St Christopher's Catholic Church in Moreno Valley. Once retired, she worked with the church’s food bank, helped in the church office, made rosaries with the ladies; simply enjoying the company and her service to God. 

 In our hearts, Dorothy lives on, and we will forever honor the legacy of a remarkable woman who made a lasting impact in our world. 

A memorial mass to celebrate Dorothy's life will be held at noon on August 26, 2025, at St Christopher’s Church. A visitation will be Monday, August 25, 2025, at Miller-Jones Mortuary in Moreno Valley.  In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Alivingtribute.org   Choosing Sequoia National Park will help to reforest the land that was a favored vacation spot for Dorothy.
