Jessie Josephine Holmes

Jessie Josephine Solorzano was born on November 29, 1949, in Long Beach, California, to Peter Eusebio Solorzano and Esther Patricia Betance. One of eight children, Jessie grew into a strong, determined woman whose life centered around faith and family.

At 17, Jessie met the love of her life, Louis Holmes, at a church dance while he was home on leave from the United States Navy. They married in 1968 and went on to build an incredible family of 16 children.

Jessie was a mother and caregiver above all else. Through life's hardships, she raised her children with love, faith, strength, and integrity. She made sure they experienced life through sports, family RV trips with 30 people or more, amusement parks, beach days, birthdays, Christmas, and countless adventures.

Her faith in Jesus was the foundation of her family. She was active in church, loved the choir and Bible studies with her grandchildren, and passed her faith on to her whomever she came across. She and Louis also enjoyed bowling leagues and the friendships they made along the way.

Mom, was truly one of a kind. She loved crocheting, puzzles and diamond dots was her newest that still aren't finished, Gi parties, her many collections, and always having candy bars for her children and suckers for the grandchildren, including her famously stale gumballs. She loved game nights, even if she didn't always follow the rules, and everyone knew not to ask mom to do anything while she was in her pajamas. 😂 But when the bright orange lipstick came out and her hair was picked, she was ready to go. **“Clock it.”**

She was adventurous, stubborn, funny, loving, and never afraid to speak her mind. No one will forget her fly swatter, her hugs, or the blessing on the forehead she gave every time someone left, even if you walked away covered in oil and holy water.

Mom's greatest legacy wasn't anything she collected, it was the people she loved, her children, grandchildren, family, friends, church family, and everyone she welcomed into her life.

She leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, strength, laughter, and unconditional love that will continue for generations.

If you knew mom, she wouldn't want everyone crying forever. She'd want us together, eating, laughing, playing a game even if nobody follows the rules but just making memories.
