Joyce Ruth Fishburn, also known as Joyce McMillen, passed away on September 27, 2023, at the age of 85 at her home of 38 years in Moreno Valley, California. She was born on October 21, 1937, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Sheldon Hagen McMillen and Ella Ruth Mulliner. Joyce was a beloved member of her community, and her kind and thoughtful nature touched the lives of many.
Joyce was known for her unwavering kindness, sweetness, and thoughtfulness. She always put others first and took a genuine interest in the well-being of her friends and family. Joyce had a warm and caring personality, always eager to know how everyone was doing, how their jobs were going, and what their families were up to. Even when walking became difficult, she embraced a wheelchair with grace and continued to explore new experiences.
One of Joyce's passions was sports. She loved watching football and Nascar, but her true joy came from watching golf. Every weekend, Joyce would tune in to watch golf tournaments, knowing all the players and developing a deep admiration for them.
Throughout her career, Joyce worked for Rite-Aid Corp as a trainer and cashier in the Moreno Valley, California area. Her dedication and commitment to her work left a lasting impact on her colleagues and the community she served.
Joyce was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having been a lifelong member. Her faith played an important role in her life, providing her with strength and guidance.
Joyce is survived by her granddaughter Ashley Fishburn, as well as her nieces and nephew, David McMillen of Newberg, OR , Ron McMillen of Flagstaff, AZ, Shelly McMillen of Flagstaff, AZ, Morningstar Jaynes of Chuckey, TN, Rusty McMillen of Newberg, OR, Teressa Morin Cohen of Garden Grove, CA , Robert Morin of Gilbert, AZ. She was preceded in death by her husband Cody Clay Fishburn and her son Leonard M. Fishburn, her brother Russ McMillen and sister Beverly McMillen Morin.
Joyce Ruth Fishburn will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her kind spirit, selflessness, and love for her family and community will be remembered and cherished forever. May she rest in peace.
A visitation for Joyce will be held Tuesday, October 24, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 13281 Lasselle St, Moreno Valley, CA 92553. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, October 24, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 13281 Lasselle St, Moreno Valley, CA 92553. A committal service will occur Tuesday, October 24, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd, Riverside, CA 92518.
