Loretta entered peacefully into eternal rest at the Good Samaritan Retirement Center on September 2, 2023. She was born to Henry and Tillie (Buresh) Machacek on April 13, 1936, as one of six siblings. She was raised on a family farm in Weston, Nebraska, and her family enjoyed the hard work and prayerful, simple life of the farm, mixed with family singing and neighborly visits, faithfully living their Catholic faith.
In 1955, she graduated from the Notre Dame Academy in Omaha. Although initially aspiring to become a Notre Dame Sister and teacher, she later discerned religious life as a Carmelite Novice, but eventually discovered her true calling and vocation to married life. She met and married John Bohmfalk, while he was serving in the Air Force, and stationed in Nebraska. They began their young family of four children, Ann, David, Daniel, and Anita, while stationed in England and Southern California.
Later, Loretta studied to become a registered nurse, and she found tremendous fulfillment in working as a NICU nurse, praying for the newborn babies in her care. Throughout her life, she continued praying the Rosary each day on behalf of unborn children. In addition to spending time with family and friends, her Catholic Faith was the center of her life, and she became a Third Order Benedictine Oblate of the Divine Will.
Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Tillie Machacek; and brother Robert. She is survived by her siblings, Ronnie, Henry Jr., Richard, and Sister Mary Jane, and four children, 8 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. She was loved and will be missed by all, but we rejoice that she has gone to be with Our Lord Jesus together with the Blessed Virgin Mother in the Communion of Saints. Thanks be to God!
