November 16, 1940 — November 4, 2025
Marcelene “Marcy” Theresa Nistler, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, in Riverside, California. She was born in Watkins, Minnesota, on November 16, 1940, shortly after the historic Armistice Day Blizzard.
Marcy met her future husband, Marlyn, at a barn dance, and they were married on February 11, 1961. For twenty years, she embraced life as a military wife and mother, meeting with grace the many challenges and adventures that came with service to our country. While stationed in Germany, Marcy traveled widely across Europe—visiting Spain, Czechoslovakia, Prague, and the Vatican in Rome—experiences she cherished and often recalled.
A lifelong volunteer in her children’s schools and Scouts, Marcy later worked as a teacher’s aide for Ysleta ISD in El Paso, Texas, and for Moreno Valley USD in California.
Marcy was a talented crafter and artist, generously sharing her creativity by making many treasured items for family and friends. Her handiwork and warm spirit touched countless lives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marlyn Nistler; her son, Alan Nistler; and her brother, Donald Geislinger. Marcy is survived by her children Rhonda Bryant (Thomas), Kelly Mason (Keith), and Dereck Nistler; grandchildren Cory, Joseph, Rachel, Jarrod, Kyle, Jacob, Jarrett, Hannah, and Emma; great-grandchildren Adalynn, Karson, Caleb, Ashton, and Nolan; and siblings Louis Geislinger, William (Billy) Geislinger, Dwight Geislinger, Connie Reichert, Eloise (Ellie) Hanley, and Sherry Burg.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Samaritan’s Purse.
