

Alfred Garrison Sr. was born on October 28, 1951, in Berwick, Louisiana, where his journey of service, laughter, and love began. Over the years, he built a life marked by hard work, dedication to others, and meaningful relationships, eventually making his home in Houston, Texas. After a life defined by service, kindness, and unwavering independence, Alfred peacefully transitioned on July 1, 2026, at the age of 74, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until Celebration of Life at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at Jones Funeral Home 715 6th Street Morgan City, Louisiana. Burial will follow in the Berwick Cemetery in Berwick, Louisiana.
Alfred proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army. Following his military service, he continued his commitment to serving others through his work at the Veterans Hospital, where he was known for his dedication, perseverance, and strong work ethic. His professionalism and willingness to help others earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike.
Alfred will be remembered for his warm heart, kind spirit, and wonderful sense of humor. He loved making people laugh and never met a stranger, treating everyone he encountered with kindness and respect. He enjoyed sports, spending time playing dominoes with family and friends, and was admired for his independent nature. His laughter, wisdom, and genuine presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Left to cherish his precious memories are his son, Alfred Garrison Jr. of Monroe, Louisiana; his daughter, Ashley Kelly-Taylor of Luling, Louisiana; his beloved grandchildren, Amari Taylor and Kai Garrison; his former wife, Renita Augman, with whom he shared a part of his life's journey; his devoted companion, Iris Butler along with her children; and a host of family and friends who shared in his journey and were touched by his kindness.
Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, James Garrison and Marrieta Maze Garrison.
Though Alfred has departed from this earthly life, his legacy of service, kindness, laughter, and unwavering love for his family and friends will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His memory will forever be cherished, and his life will continue to inspire those blessed to have shared in his journey.
