A proud graduate of John Mac High School, Class of 1978, Charliette continued her education at Southern University of New Orleans. She later retired from Amelia Casino, where she was known for her hard work, dedication, and kindness.
She had a deep love for reading and could often be found immersed in books of various genres, with Carl Weber being her favorite author. She also enjoyed watching her favorite television show, Family Business, which brought her joy and entertainment.
Charliette was the very definition of compassion—caring, generous, and always willing to help others. She had a heart big enough for everyone and would gladly give you the shirt off her back. A strong supporter of local and distant businesses, she believed deeply in lifting others up and encouraging success in everyone she encountered.
Her absence leaves a void in the lives of her family and friends that cannot be filled. Charliette will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and unwavering love for those around her. Her legacy will live on in the lives she touched, and she will be deeply missed by her sons, grandchildren, and all who knew and loved her.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her four sons, Gregory (Niesha) Ray, Sr. of Houston, Texas, Curtis Ray of New Orleans, Louisiana, Travis Ray of Morgan City, Louisiana, and Vernon Norwood; three grandchildren, Zoie Ray, TaMaje' Ray, and Tia Ray, and long time friend, Curtis Norwood; along with a host of relatives and friends.
Charliette was preceded in death by her mother, Ellen Vinie Ray; her grandchildren, Ta'Mari Ray and Gregory Ray, Jr..
