Ivory Dugar

Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the New Salem Cemetery in Patterson, LA.

Ivory Wayne MeCoy Dugar was born on April 9, 1988, at 7:02 AM at Chabert and Medical Center in Houma, LA, to the late Shawn MeCoy Welch and Shawn Denise Dugar. He attended Hattie A. Watts Elementary, Patterson Jr. High, Berwick Jr. and Sr. High School, and Patterson High School. At the age of 17, he worked for SMI in Berwick, LA, until he was diagnosed with a disability.

He leaves to cherish his memories mother, Shawn Denise Dugar Gant; his stepfather, Leroy Gant, Jr; one daughter, Jaylana Marie Thompson of Thibodeaux, LA; two brothers, Jamarius Jamal Dugar of Patterson, LA and Colby Thompson of Lafayette, LA; one sister, SaraKeisha Donea Dugar of Patterson, LA; one grandfather, Robert Wayne Dugar, Sr; one uncle Robert Wayne Dugar, Jr.; four aunts, Tammy Michelle Welch, Tresea Renea Dugar, Ivy Geneva Dugar and Tamika Danielle Dugar all of Patterson, LA; two nieces, Candyce CeAsia Williams and Ja’Niya RiShawn Johnlouis; one nephew Ja’Kyari Wayne Gerbaud Johnlouis of Patterson, LA; a devoted stepdad, Richard Charles Smith of Centerville, LA and a host of great uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Shawn MeCoy Welch; one brother, Derrick Gerbaud Dugar; paternal grandparents; maternal grandmother, Roxie Ann Griffin Dugar; and a host of uncles, aunts, and cousins.
