She was born in Burke County, she was the daughter of the late Charles Robert Franklin and Emma Louise Whisnant Franklin.
She was a member of North Morganton United Methodist Church and loved the Lord. She attended Drexel High School and was a member of the Drexel High School reunion committee as reunions were always important to her. She was a people person who loved being with her family and friends. Her planning of family events with special recipe dishes, thinking of every detail to make the occasion memorable will truly be missed by all. Messes would be made, but more important to her was the memory. Her true passion and gift was painting. She enjoyed her weekly classes from Mary Dean Taylor where she could paint, relax and spend time with friends. She was also gifted in quilting and sewing. All of these talents she loved to share and teach others and brought her much joy.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William Price Simpson.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children; Dana Reece (Mike), Chad Everett Clark, sister; Denna Franklin McGalliard, nieces; Kasie Hildebran, Kerri Poteat, nephew; Josh Brittain, grandchildren; McKenna Major, Emilee Major, John Clark and Ashlyn Reece.
A very special thank you to her lifelong friends and caregivers; Dale Keller, Betty Day, Sue Sager, sister and friend; Darlene Clark, aka Sarge.
A funeral service will be held at North Morganton United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 11:00 am with Rev. Burt Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Burke Memorial Park. Family and friends are welcome to come prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 am for the viewing.
