He was born to Ethel-Lyn Harris and Gregory Harris on Thanksgiving morning November 26, 1981 in Philadelphia, Pa.
Ashley graduated from Philadelphia's Public School System in 1999. After graduating he joined the United States Navy where he served his country for 2 years. After the Navy, Ashley came back home to join his family in Morganton.
Ashley had a yard selling business, he enjoyed working on cars and was a self-taught barber. Ashel had a beautiful voice; he was a singer of the family’s gospel group and lead singer of the children’s choir at church. Ashley accepted Christ at an early age, although he strayed away from the church, he never forgot about God. He would discuss the Bible with anyone and everyone. Ashley always lent a hand to those in need. Even in death, Ashley being an organ donor, he saved four lives.
Ashley was preceded in death by his son Mali Sylvester Butler.
Those left to cherish his memories include his parents; Gregory Harris, Sr., and Ethel-Lyn Harris, brothers; Gregory Harris, Jr., David Harris, sisters; Autumn Butler of Philadelphia and Rachel Gains (Eddie) of Charlotte, step sisters; Monica Harris, Kysha Cameron (Michael), Tiffany Seldon (Ray) all of Philadelphia, also surviving is his beloved aunts; Eva Freeman (George) Sandra Harris, uncles; Eric Rhaney, and Michael Harris of Philadelphia, Pa., along with a of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A memorial service for Ashley will be held Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Kirksey Funeral Home, 406 Lenoir Rd., Morganton, NC 28655.
The Butler Family has entrusted Kirksey Funeral Home of Morganton with arrangements.
