

Bascum Arnold Ollis, born February 9, 1940 in Cranberry, NC passed quietly in his home on August 12, 2018 after a long battle with cancer. A Veteran of the United States Army, he retired from Burke County EMS. Also a former member of Chesterfield Fire Department and Burke County Rescue Squad. He was a First Aid instructor for Basic Law Enforcement programs at Western Piedmont Community College and Caldwell Community College, as well as being a First Aid and CPR instructor for the area fire departments. Following retirement, he enjoyed bee keeping and using his tractor and equipment on his farm. He enjoyed family and friends stopping by to visit him. He was a devoted husband for 58 years to his wife, Julie. He truly cherished their time together. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Julie; daughter, Jean Buchanan and her sons, Elijah and Jacob; and son, Charles and wife, Kim and their children, Jesse, Emily, Taylor and Grayson. Sister, Jessie Staton and several nieces and nephews.
