Betty Jo Brittain Phillips

Betty Jo Brittain Branch Phillips, age 79 of Morganton, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 11, 2013 while in the care of Burke Hospice. Betty was born April 19, 1934 in Burke County to the Late Lester Brittain and Edith Branch Brittain. Betty was a devoted member of Mount Home Baptist Church. She was a loving and generous soul. Betty will be greatly missed.

Along with her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Phillips, three brothers, two sisters, and a nephew.

Those left behind to cherish her memory include a son, Jeff Branch and his wife, Katie of Gamewell; a daughter, Sherry Goodman and her husband, Michael of Lake James; two sisters, Margaret Hendren of Morganton and Norma Walker and her husband, Wade of Florida; former husband, Bill Branch of Morganton; three grandchildren, April, Richard and his wife, Beth, and Jeffrey; four great grandchildren, Madison, Ethan, Ricki and Hannah. Also surviving are 10 step-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, July 15, 2013 at Mount Home Baptist Church the Rev. Jerry Gamble officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 PM prior to the services at the church.

The Family suggests memorials be made to the charity of ones choice.
