Charles “Chuck or Chucky” Walter Ledford, 50, of Morganton, died Friday, April 30, 2021 at his home. He was a member of Burkemont Baptist Church of Morganton. Before retiring, Chucky enjoyed being a long distance trucker. He loved helping his family and friends doing odd jobs. Chucky considered himself a “Jack of All Trades and a Master of None” but his family knew there was nothing he would not or could not do.
Chucky is preceded in death by his stepfather, Arnold “Whitey” Benfield, and grandparents Charlie and Lucy Ledford and Walter and Bonnie Steele.
Those left to cherish Chucky’s memory include his parents, Jack A. Ledford and Nancy S. Benfield; a sister, Bonnie L. Strowd and her husband Michael; two stepsisters, Angela Chase and Deanna Benfield; a stepbrother, Ricky Benfield; Chuck’s fianceé, Shanda Cox: a son, Andrew Cox; a daughter, Ciara Cox (Jonathan Stidham), two grandchildren Rahelyn and Greyson Stidham, future mother-in-law Tonie Cox and her fiancé Al Smith; and two fur babies Bear and Malia. Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 12:30 pm on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 in the Burkemont Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Eddie Button officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church.
