Deborah "Debbie" Lynn Segars

Born on October 22, 1951 to the late Helen Simpson Leonard and Stewart Leonard.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Larry "Joe" Tolbert and second husband, Jim Segars; brother, David Murphy Leonard.

Those left to cherish her memory is her son, Bradley Joseph Tolbert (partner, Amanda Wood); daughter, Kelly Coates (husband, Tim); grandchildren, Dillon Coates, Catelyn Coates and Juliana Skarulis; brothers, Mike Leonard (wife, Nancy), Mark Leonard (wife, Vicki), Greg Leonard (wife, Gina), and Scott Leonard (wife, Holly); numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives; and her beloved dog, Ruby Sue.

Debbie cherished spending time with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed playing Mahjong and dominoes and weekly get togethers with her beloved "Friday Friends." She had a love for music and enjoyed attending concerts, traveling, shopping, and experiencing good food and a great glass of wine. Debbie was also an avid sports fan who loved cheering on the Washington Redskins and the North Carolina Tar Heels basketball team. She was very active with her church community. Above all, she treasured the memories made with the people she loved. She was an amazing sister, mother, and friend who will be deeply missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at First United Methodist Church in Morganton, North Carolina with Reverend Austin McNeil officiating. Receiving of friends and family will be held one hour prior to service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

The family respectfully requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to GoFundMe (to help offset medical and other expenses) and/or donations be made in Debbie's name to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation.
