Dorothy Deviney Cook

Dorothy Deviney Cook, age 93, of Casar, passed away Monday, January 13, 2014 at her residence. Dorothy was born the daughter of the late Joseph Miller Deviney and Bell Angle Deviney on July 6, 1920 in Rutherford County, NC. She was the owner of Dot’s Remnant Shop in the Moriah Community for over 45 years. Dorothy will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.

Along with her parents, Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Loy Buren Cook, and a son, Milton “Slick” Cook.

Dorothy is survived by two sons, Loy Michael Cook and Noel M. Cook; four daughters, Pat Eaker, Gayle Harris, Jayne Lewis and Lorri McCurry, a sister, Ruth Stancil; 16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 3 PM on Sunday January 19, 2014 at Mt Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials be made to Mt. Moriah Methodist Church, 820 Moriah Church Road, Casar, NC 28020 or to Mt Zion Baptist Church, 400 Mt. Zion Church Road, Casar, NC 28020
