Eddie Gale Jones

She was born to the late Walter E. Pearson, Sr., and Irene Connelly Pearson on May 25, 1947, in Burke Co.

Gale was a member of Bethel Church of Christ where she attended faithfully. She retired from Broughton Hospital as a supervisor in the dietary department. Gale was very active in her local community working with different organizations such as a hospice greeter, floral arranger, and a patient one on one.

She volunteered her time at the Women Shelter, Vice President of the Burke Co. NAACP, Vice Chair of The City of Morganton’s Human Relations Committee, and The Burke Democratic Party.

Gale was the first woman to serve as the North Carolina State President of the American Legion Auxiliary.

In addition to her parents, Gale was preceded in death by her brothers Earl Pearson, Walter E. Pearson, Jr., sister Sue Lipford, and Nephew Walter E. Pearson III.

Those left to cherish Gale’s memories include her daughters; Donna Jones Corpening of Longview Texas, Sonya Akbar (Mubarak), Lolita Jenkins (Chris) both of Morganton, grandchildren; Ambrea Williams (Malik), James Jones, Selita Jenkins, Resay Featherbay, Mailk Jenkins, Clifton H. Corpening III “Trey” (Erin), great grandchildren; Xavier Williams, Ania Williams, Jizelle Jones, Eliah Jones, Riley Bristol, Isabelle Bristol, and Wyatt Bristol, sisters; Linda Perkins (Michael), Coshia Ann Pearson, and Amanda Rose, brothers; Alfonso Pearson (Kim), and Robert Neil Pearson (Jeanette), and sister-in-law Debbet “Debra” Pearson, also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Gale Jones will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 03, 2022, in the chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home of Morganton. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Olive Hill Cemetery. Pastor Richard Vie officiating.
