OBITUARY

Evelyn Lingo

April 8, 1952July 6, 2020

Our loving, gracious, and all-wise heavenly Father came for one of his children for eternal rest, Evelyn Lingo. She departed this earth and answered the call of the Lord on July 6, 2020.

Evelyn was born on April 8, 1952, in Blakley, GA. to the late James B. Lingo, Sr., and Ruth Ella Lingo. She attended Washington High School in Blakely, GA., and graduated from Suncoast High School in Riveria Beach, FL in 1969.

Evelyn was a decorated member of the United States Army for 20 years where she served with distinction in multiple roles. During her time in the Army, she received the National Defense Service Medal and Decorated Marksman Badge. After almost 20 years in the Army, she retired to Morganton, NC where she resided until 2019 working the United States Postal Services as a mail clerk from 1994 until her retirement in 2019.

Evelyn loved the outdoors and was known to walk and bike trails of Freedom Park and Blue Ridge Greenway by herself or with one of her children. She also enjoyed working crossword puzzles, playing Scrabble and she was an avid bird watcher having a number of birdhouses she meticulously cared for.

Along with you her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her brother John Lingo, sisters; Betty Jean Jackson, and Irma Jean Lingo

Left to cherish her life are her three children Zabian Lingo, Nicole Winsley, Brittney Avery, and her first grandson Amir Princeton Darden, four brothers; James B. (Carolyn) Lingo, Jr., Earnest Vincent (Elaine) Lingo, Lorenzo Lingo, and Bobby Joe Lingo, two sisters; Lorraine L. (Harry "Geno") Simmons, and Beverly Ann Worlds, one sister-in-love Chris, and brother-in-love Roscell along with life long friends Herman Avery, the late Frances Reed Avery, and Cindy Demster. Also a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends that loved her dearly.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions the family is requesting that all attendees please wear facial coverings for services.

Auntie you were an amazing phenomenal woman I love it when you would come visit grandmother and granddaddy on holidays you would drive all the way here just to spend time with them didn't see you when they passed on last time I saw you was in 2016 when grandmother ruth passed I love you and will always keep memories of you in my heart The Lord says Well Done My Good and Faithful Servant family I love you all
