

George lived a long and happy life. He is survived by his beloved wife, Fran, and his sons, Michael Daly (Cheryl) and Steven Daly (Susan).
He cherished his grandson, Scott (Deanna), and his great-granddaughters, Libby and Hannah, who brought light and laughter, especially during many beach trips and vacations together.
George graduated from Middletown High School in New York. He went on to serve his country as a Captain of Company A, 170th Field Artillery in the New York National Guard. His military service marked the beginning of a distinguished career in public service.
He began his professional journey at Middletown Psychiatric Center, where he furthered his education and earned his master’s degree in Social Work. He later served as a New York State Police officer before continuing his career with the New York State Department of Corrections.
Throughout his career, George held many notable roles and achievements, including his work at Willowbrook Psychiatric Center in Long Island NY, where he served as Chief Security hospital treatment Assistant at Central New York Forensic Psychiatric center in Marcy, NY. He was among the chief negotiators during the Attica and Sing Sing prison riots, demonstrating courage and leadership during critical moments in New York’s history. He was later appointed by the Governor’s Office to help develop forensic units across the New York State Department of Corrections, leaving a lasting impact.
George was preceded in death by his wives, Louisa and Marion, as well as his siblings: David John Daly, Agnes Brower, Mary Hapke Lutz, James Daly, Joseph Daly, Catherine Coleman, Richard Daly, and Rita Daly Doty.
George leaves many nieces, nephews, their descendants and a plethora of good friends.
Outside of his remarkable career in public service, George was an avid fisherman and a passionate ocean conservationist. He cared deeply about marine life, especially sea turtles. Some of his happiest memories were spent by the ocean and at the beach, surrounded by family and friends—often cooking up the day’s catch, crab legs, and sharing stories.
A celebration of George’s love and life will be held on April 25th at 3:00 p.m. at the Lazy Pirate in Carolina Beach, NC, a place that held special meaning to him as the site of his ’ Level 90’ birthday celebration. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and honor a life well lived.
George will be remembered for his strength, dedication, and deep love, as well as the legacy of service and compassion he leaves behind.
