Jerdy was born the son of the late Thomas Jefferson Passmore and Lilly Lorraine Hasket Passmore on April 22, 1922 in Franklin, NC.
Jerdy married the late Violet Coffey Passmore on Dec. 8, 1973. He was retired from pulpwood logging, furniture, textiles and "Sharing the Word of God".
Along with his parents, his beloved wife of 52 years, Violet, Jerdy is preceded in death by a step-son son, Malcolm Dean Owens; three grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Those left behind to cherish Jerdy's memory include his four step-children, Pastor Michael Owens (Kathy), Jerry Owens (fiance, Ruby), Cathy Hinceman (Rick), and Rhonda Gail Owens; 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. Jerdy is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at the Kirksey Funeral Home of Morganton with funeral services to follow at 2:00 PM in the funeral home's chapel with Pastor Michael Owens and Rev. Edward Stephenson officiating. Interment will be held in the Tate Family Cemetery in Newland, NC.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Seeds For Harvest Church 4160 Us Hwy 321A Granite Falls, NC 28630.
