Jessie Raylene Powell

Jessie Raylene Powell, age 59, of Morganton, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 23, 2022. Jessie was born the daughter of Jesse Ray and Dorothy Jane Powell on September 17, 1962 in Burke County, NC.

Jessie was a kind and generous person. She enjoyed planting and caring for her flowers. She loved camping as a child and the great outdoors. Jessie had three pet Chihuahuas, Pee Wee, Tee Tee and Maybell. Jessie was loved her family and will be greatly missed.

Jessie is preceded in death by her father, Jesse Ray Powell; a sister, Rebecca Ann Cook; and a brother, Kenneth Douglas Powell.

Those left behind to cherish Jessie's memory include her mother, Dorothy Jane Powell of the home; her fiancé, Kenneth Ray Danner of Rhodhiss; a sister, Deborah Darlene Finkle of Morganton; and two aunts, Susan McCoy of Morganton and Myrtle Taylor of Savannah, Georgia. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 in the Chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home with the Rev. Phil King officiating. Floral tributes are welcome and may be delivered to the funeral home before the service.
