

Mr. Wright was born August 04, 1947 in Burke County to the late Ruby Mae Wright-Pickens.
In addition to his mother Ruby Mae Wright-Pickens, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Willie Elizabeth Gaston Morris, uncles, Andrew Wright of California, and Jodie Wright of Morganton.
John attended Olive Hill High School, and also Job Corp. Mr. Wright retired from Broughton Hospital where he worked as a healthcare technician, served as a Deacon at People's Tabernacle Church where he was the President of the Miracles gospel group, served at the Lake James Fire Department as a firefighter and first responder. Among all of these things daddy did he was a die hard Washington Redskins fan, and also supported his home team the Carolina Panthers. He was humble, loving, and a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Angela Gibbs Wright of the home, daughters; Tamara Wright-Maharaj of Huntsville, Alabama, Tonya Garris (Eric) of Parkton, NC., Tashia Kissler (Auntwan) of Hickory, Mariah Wright of the home, Katherine Davis (Samuel) of Lenoir, sons; Carlos Gibbs, and Cortez Gibbs both of Lenoir, granddaughters; Tania Wright, Jae Wright, and Briana Williams (Terrell) all of Huntsville, Alabama, Tavia Garris of Atlanta, GA., Kendra Greene, Deja Gibbs, Hailey Gibbs all of Lenoir, Andrea Smith of Concord, and Makailah Kissler, grandson; Zamar Garris of Parkton, NC., great granddaughter; Avayah Wright, Imani Wright, and Skyla Williams all of Huntsville, Alabama.
A Memorial Service will be for Mr. John Lee Wright Sunday, August 15, 2021 at 2 P.M. in the chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home of Morganton.
