Joyce “Maw Maw” Eve Bartlett Lane, 74, of Morganton, went to be with her heavenly father on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Joyce was born to the late Henry Dewey Bartlett & Aletha Victoria Gouge Bartlett on August 25th, 1947 in Catawba County.
Joyce was of the Baptist faith and was a member of North Cross Church. Joyce enjoyed working in her flowers, singing and spending time with her family. She was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, and sister. Joyce will be greatly missed.
Along with her parents, Joyce is preceded in death by her life companion Jay “Jack” Hallyburton; a son, Henry “Joey” Sparks; two grandchildren, Stephan South & Erica Walker; a sister-in-Law, Maxine Bartlett; and a grandson-in-law, Keith Buff.
Joyce always wanted a big family. Those left behind to cherish her memory include a brother, Joseph “Joe” Bartlett of Spruce Pine: six daughters, Barbara ”Vicky” Perkins (Richard), Cynthia ”Missy” Powell (Dennis), Michelle ”Smillie” Tipton (Max), Elizabeth ”Beth” Johnson, Elizabeth ”Lizz” Sparks, a son Edward Hallyburton (Camilla); several grandchildren that included Ben Hollifield, whom she helped raise, several great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and a daughter-in-law, Julianne Sparks. The family would like to recognize and give a special thanks to Josh Frye and dear friend Phyllis Coffey.
A "Celebration of Joyce's Life" will be held at 5:00 pm on Saturday, February 12th 2022 at the North Cross Church 3297 NC 18/ US 64 Morganton, NC 28655 with the Rev. Charles Crump officiating. The family will receive friends from 4pm-5pm at the church.
The family request memorials be made to Cynthia Powell 3086 NC 18/US 64 Morganton, NC 28655 to assist the family with funeral expenses.
