Kenneth Dean Burgin

Kenneth Dean Burgin, age 79, of Morganton, North Carolina passed away on Monday, June 23, 2025. Born April 2, 1946, to the late Bulo Ervin Burgin and Gloria Blake Burgin, in Morganton, NC. He was a member of Poarch Chapel Missionary Methodist Church. 3580 Playmore Beach Road, Lenoir, NC 28645

Mr. Burgin had worked for Drexel Heritage Furniture Factory for 35 years and was a founding member of Chesterfield Volunteer Fire Department for 40 years and was their Fire Chief for 25 years and was one of the last original living members. He was also a member of Burke County Fire & Rescue, Daniel Boone Bear Club, (Bear and Deer hunter and fisherman), and served our country during the Vietnam War with the US Army. He believed in serving his Country, Community, and always helping people and giving back to them. He loved his large Barbecue Cooker and used it often for fundraiser's.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two wives; Frances Loveless Burgin and Hassie Benfield Burgin, two brothers; Jerry Burgin and Bill Burgin. He is survived by daughter, Donna and her husband Josh Scronce, two son's; Auston and his wife Connie Loveless, and William Loveless Jr, four grandchildren; Terri and her husband Blake Shook, Christy and her husband Travis Smith, Salena Loveless, and Craig Loveless, six great grandchildren; Katelyn and her husband Elijah Peal, Dagen Smith, Willow Smith, Scarlett Smith, Gage Loveless, and Carson Shook, and one great-great grandchild, Oakley Peal, and a special friend; Trish Shinn.

The family will receive friends at Kirksey Funeral Home on Saturday, June 28, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:45 PM, 406 Lenoir Road, Morganton, NC 28655. A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Daniels Cemetery in Newland, NC with the Pastor Mike Green officiating. Military Honors will be performed by AmVets Post 76 of Hickory.
