

Mr. Lester Moore, age 92, of Drexel, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 21, 2016. He was born the son of the late Will Moore, Sr. and Lillie Perkins Moore on January 24, 1924 in Caldwell County.
Mr. Moore served his country honorably and bravely in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Mr. Moore will be greatly missed.
Along with his parents, Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his wife, Eula Mae Bristol Moore; a grandson, Larry Christopher Connelly; four brothers, Pink Moore, Sr., Will Moore, Jr., Clinton Moore and Roosevelt Moore; and a sister, Pansy Moore Carpenter.
Those left behind to cherish his memory include his daughter, Mary Alice Connelly and her husband Larry of Valdese; two grandchildren, Minister Alicia Connelly and Rev. Dr. Joe Connelly, both of Baton Rouge, LA; two great grandchildren, Joshua Connelly of New Orleans, LA and Cherish Taylor and her husband Rev. Damaris Taylor of Taylor, TX. Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 in the Memorial Chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Joe Connelly presiding. Interment with military honor provided by the Caldwell County Veteran Honor Guard, Inc. will be held at Olive Hill Cemetery following the service. Mr. Moore will lie in state on Tuesday morning from 10 to 11 am.
The family would like to recognize Autumn Care of Drexel, Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, and Dr. Matthew Robison and staff of Carolina’s Health Care – Blue Ridge (Grace Hospital’s 5th floor north) for their support and outstanding care of Mr. Moore.
