Linda Burleson

Linda Kay Burleson, 63, of Lenoir, formerly of Morganton, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, January 19, 2011, after a period of declining health. Born April 19, 1947 in Bradford, PA, she was a daughter of the late Lynn Holcomb and Mary Erskine Holcomb. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Burleson was also preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Burleson and a sister, Mary Lou Cummings.

“The best mother in the world”, she will be lovingly remembered by two daughters, Penny Burleson Sigmon and husband, Scott Sigmon, of Claremont, NC and Carrie Burleson Nichols and husband, Alan “Hub” Nichols, of Lenoir, NC; three sisters, Marilyn Swanson, Rochester, NY, Donna Newman, Bradford, PA and Dora Mae Blake, of Norman, OK; a brother, Earl “Sonny” Knight, of Old Fort, NC; a special sister-in-law, Doris Layton and husband, Steve, of Morganton; two granddaughters, Hailey Young and Maci Nichols, both of Lenoir, NC; she will also be lovingly remembered by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Burleson will be held 11 AM, Saturday, January 22, 2011, in the Chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home, Morganton, with the Reverend Larry Cooley officiating. Interment will follow at the Bear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Bakersville, NC. The family will receive friends 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Friday, January 21, 2011, at Kirksey Funeral Home, Morganton.
