She was born August 8, 1944 to the late Darcus Turner White and John Lester White in Cleveland County, North Carolina. She was a faithful member of the North Morganton Baptist Church and cherished her relationships with both her family and the Lord. A dedicated homemaker, Martha's children were her pride and joy. William 'Billy' Lester Burns and Brian Sullivan Burns will cherish her memory. They are comforted to know that she is reunited with her beloved husband, William Gordon Burns, in Heaven.
She leaves behind a large community of neighbors, church friends, and relatives who will greatly miss her infectious smile and laugh.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at North Morganton Baptist Church in Morganton, North Carolina with Pastor JC Bradley officiating and former Pastor Kenny Baker offering remembrance. Interment will follow the service at Forest Hill Cemetery in Morganton.
A receiving of friends and family will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, at Kirksey Funeral Home in Morganton from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
